Leven 1898 HMS - Torpedo Boat Destroyer

Fairfield 30-Knotter 1897-8 Order
Laid down 24/1/1898 and launched by Fairfield Govan, Yard No 405, on 28/6/1898. Sold for BU 14/9/1920 to Hayes, Porthcawl.
370t light; 420t full load
215ft 6in oa x 21ft x 12ft 2in
2 shaft, 4 Thornycroft boilers, coal, 6300ihp
1 x 12pdr, and 2 x TTs
Crew 63

Completed 31/5/1899
Served in home waters
August 1914 6th Destroyer Flotilla, Dover Patrol with HMS Attentive as leader
1915 collided with a transport near the French Coast and completely crumbled her bows. Towed away from the coast by HMS Viking and then towed into Dover by the tug Lady Crundall
26/1/1918 sighted a periscope dead ahead and tried to ram, then went into reverse for 200 yards and dropped her stern depth charges. The result was a large air bubble with 6 of the crew of UB-35. A boat was launched and managed to pick up one, but he died soon afterwards
