Not often remembered as a Hull tug, she was in the United fleet 1921-1929 before moving to Boston

O.N. 136179. 73g. 0n. 75.1 x 17.1 x 7.8 feet.
C.2-cyl. (13” & 28” x 18”) engine by Gauldie, Gillespie & Company, Glasgow. 55nhp. 250ihp.
2.1914: Completed by Scott & Sons, Bowling (Yard No. 246) for R. H. Mungall, Hessle.
24.7.1914: Sold to the Premier Tug Company Ltd., (William H. Miller, manager), Hull.
30.4.1921: Purchased by the United Towing Company Ltd., Hull.
1929: Sold to Boston Dock and Harbour Commissioners, Boston.
1968: Sold to an unidentified buyer from Ireland but the sale was not ratified.
1968: Sold to A. Draper & Sons Ltd., Hull for demolition.
c1972: Demolished in Victoria Dock, Hull.

Finlay was taken up by the Admiralty in WW1 as a hired screw tug, only 1 of about 250 to serve for varying periods in a multitude of tasks.

Finlay was hired from 1916 until the wars end.
She also had 3 sisters, all from Scott & Sons., Bowling,
with Finlay, Bunty and Berty all of the Premier Tug Co Ltd.

Bunty y no 245
Berty y no 248
Pinky (1) y no 247

Bunty and Berty also saw war service, with Bunty blown up and lost on a mine with all 5 onboard 21 Oct 1917.

Pinky (1) later Skeef, however, had a different owner and her wartime activities are unclear.

4.1914: Sold to Walter Frost, London shipbroker.
4.1914: Completed as SKEEF for Peter Paramonov Rostov-on-Don, Russia.

We did have two Hull docker shop stewards known universally as Pinky and Perky :D

Might she have kept the same machinery her entire working life.
The 2 photos above show scarcely any visual changes to her.
Had her engine been changed then her funnel may have been cut down. The ventilation trunks are missing, but she is awaiting her fate in the lower photo, in fact still looks pretty seamanlike and shipshape.
