She was launched as Union Manta, I have pics in my collection from the launch and she hit the water as Union Manta.

Leon,

Officially a launched vessel becomes the name after Christening. In the Netherlands a ship is Christened shortly before launching, but not in Denmark. Mostly they Christened just before delivery (as they do in more countries). That is why!

Henk, I think we are practical people, if the name is written on the ship when it is launched, then that is its "launched name", even if it is officially christened later!

I know George, but for my fleetlists I try to place only "official giving" data and not what people said or think. The same problem I had with ZP DANIMARCA. Never sailed as such, but all papers, included from the company itself showing the name with "ZP".
I only try to be as complete as possible. Lucky enough with help of others.
