Hi all,

Does anyone know if Svitzers have any plans to replace these tugs or build in addition to them? They are not getting any younger and with the loss of the Waker the Ocean fleet is now down to 3 vessels, not much of a foot print in that market for the largest towage company!

Cheers.

Darren.

They have really done well- on a par with Wolraad Woltemade and John Ross I would think.

Well, pure SVITZER they're indeed back to 3 vessels but the coop with the Chinese (Svitzer-COESS) gives them 3 more vessels: DE HONG, DE ZHOU and DE DA. Exactly 2 years ago I was on a trip aboard the ROTTERDAM sailing from Rotterdam to Flushing and spoke to one of the directors. He mentioned they were planning newbuildings which would be a modern-spinoff of the ROTTERDAM class. Haven't heard / seen anyting since.
