Archive Ship Identity

Post by From the North » Fri Jul 29, 2016 11:58 pm

I'm going through some of my old photographs trying to identify and catalogue a few of the ships I have photographed.

Have lost my log book and the file I started to digitise is corrupt.

Does anybody have access to the old Clydesite Archives from 2005 or is able to help.

I'm looking for details of the RN ships that took part in Neptune or Joint Warrior in October 2005. I have a photograph of HMS Ocean being pulled off the berth at Greenock Ocean Terminal on 24th October and in the murky background is one of the two RN Assault ships either HMS Albion or HMS Bulwark.

Can anybody identify which of the two was on the Clyde at that time.

Many thanks in advance

Hello - as well as Ocean at GOT the RN ships at Faslane which sailed for the exercise were Gloucester, Bulwark, Sir Bedivere, Echo, Ramsey, Pembroke and Blyth. Quorn, Brocklesby and Chiddingfold were at Faslane with Superb and Sovereign. Fort Austin was at Glen Mallan.

looking at my pictures the weather for the sailings was grim.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. I hadn't realised I had seen Bulwark at all, the weather that day was horrendous and Bulwark is only a grey outline in my photograph.

Thanks for the list
