26/10/1939 sold to Compagnie Nazairienne de Remorquage et de Sauvetage, St Nazaire on behalf of the French Navy (Marine Nationale) and renamed COUDON. As France had already declared war on Germany, a direct sale to the Navy would be contrary to Belgian's neutral position. By the invasion of Belgium in May 1940 the vessel had been formally transferred from CNRS to the Navy.
