HMS Badger
Destroyer, Acheron Class, Parsons Special – H.15, H.52, H.09, H.91
Laid down 17/10/1910 and launched by William Denny & Brothers Dumbarton, Yard No 933, on 11/7/1911. Sold 9/5/1921, to Ward, Hayle for scrapping

75m x 7.8m x 2.7m
2-shaft Parsons semi-geared Turbines, 3 Yarrow boilers, oil, 16,000shp giving 28 knots
2 x 4in BL Mk VIII, 2 x 12pdr 12 cwt, and 2 x 21in TTs
Crew 70

Completed 16/8/1912 and joined the 1st Flotilla which became part of the Grand Fleet 1914-16.
28/8/1914 took part in the Battle of Heligoland Bight
29/10/1914 she attacked and rammed U-19 off the Dutch Coast severely damaging the U-boat which managed to escape and survived the war. Badger’s stem was fractured and following this destroyers were fitted with strengthened stems
June 1916 took part in the Battle of Jutland attached to the 3rd Battlecruiser Squadron. She picked up the only 6 remaining of the crew HMS Invincible
17/4/1917 HMHS Lanfranc was torpedoed by the German Submarine UB-40 off Le Havre. Some 570 survivors were picked up by the destroyers HMS Badger and HMS Jackal, aided by HMS P 47 and the French patrol boat Roitelet, and taken to Portsmouth.
5/2/1918 she was escorting a convoy while operating from Lough Swilly when the SS Tuscania, with US Troops, was torpedoed and sunk
1918 5th Destroyer Flotilla, Mediterranean. Her Captain was awarded the Italian Naval Decoration for service off Durazzo, Albania
17/10/1919 reduced to C & M Party at Portsmouth and was then laid up
