COWAL 1954: Ailsa Troon

Post by Deepol » Mon Jan 20, 2014 9:59 am

Second of the pioneer trio of car and passenger ferries for the Caledonian Steam Packet Co. she was launched on January 20th 1954 and completed in April.
She served the various routes on the Clyde and I'm sure the Western Isles under Caledonian Macbrayne till 1979 when she was sold to Greek interests becoming MEDITERRANEAN STAR and was broken up in Greece far from the Clyde in December 1983.
