P.S. WAVERLEY

Post by Angus Mac Kinnon » Mon Sep 06, 2010 8:57 pm

Seen at Greenock in May 2008 on a particularly quiet morning - the Clyde's grand lady. (When she was laid up having her damaged port paddle wheel made good)

A reflection from this side. My late Pop's invitation to the 40th Celebration Cruise. He was one of the original crew having joined her before she left Inglis. He started as a waiter serving the shipyard bosses on their daily trips to and from work. I believe he ended up as purser before leaving her to join Young & Cunningham on Robertson street.
Harry "Sonny" Watson, Cowcaddens then Scotstoun.

Heh hoh.

Hope your leg isnae given you anymore jip.

Wee nostalgic 'trip' there, Barry. How many stories could be written where that paddler's long history with the Clyde is concerned, eh?

No change with the left pin, dead from knee down to ankle, that's been over 2 1/2 years now so it's going to be like that for the final run home, I think. Some would say that it matches from the neck upwards .... some people can be very cruel, don't you think? :(

An old press cutting which epitomises the heady days of Doon the Watter holidays: Rothesay with folk enjoying themselves on the self hire motor and rowing boats and WAVERLEY at the pier with another load.
