CAP SAN DIEGO

A sail down to Glückstadt on the River Elbe on MV Cap San Diego. Now a preserved museum ship in the port of Hamburg she does various sailings through out the summer months. Built in 1962 by A.G. Deutsche Werft A.G., Hamburg she belonged to the Hamburg-Südamerikanische Dampschiffharts-Gessellschaft and ran between Hamburg and South American ports. There were six of this class launched in 1961 and were known at the time as the 'White Swans of the South Atlantic'

She's very well maintained, Paul. They were a lovely class of ship.

Well worth the visit David, cost 109 euros with a meal and two free drinks. Sailed 10.00hrs. down river turned off Glüstadt on the Elbe and back up for 17.00hrs. Free run of the ship Bridge, ER etc.

Yes, a marvellous ship. Shows what can be done. It's a pity the folk that went to China to bring back either GLENOGLE or GLENFALLOCH for the same purpose were unsuccessful.
