The largest ship Zita at 4490 tons Deadweight berthed at the port of Sunday 2.3.14 and sailed for Castellon with 2850 tons clay on the 4.3.14

Hello Norman, sound like a messy cargo to be loading so close to the houses.
Can you remind us of the tug there, can just see her stern in this photo.

Hi George

No mess at all its ball or brick clay which is loaded at Bideford ,no china clay which is powdery only mess is the quay car park after rain and Michael the crane driver has to hose the quay down before any cars get on it become's very greasy.

The tug Goliath has been alongside for over a month waiting for the weather to moderate to before force 4 which was her operating limit as the MSC Simitar on the Manchester Ship Canal You know of course she was built on the river by P.K Harris at Appledore in 1956. :lol:

The Kathleen & May arrived at Bideford on Saturday 23.8.14 from Gloucester. She used to berthed at Bideford before the owners relocated to Canning Dock Liverpool . She is due to sail Today or Tuesday back to Liverpool.

Truly a lovely sight, Norman, I am used to seeing her tied up in Albert Dock, here she looks so much bigger and finer!

Kathleen and May not sailing now until 09.00 hrs Saturday should be sufficient light for takings photies..

An unusal visitor to Appledore the Jersey Tug Duke of Normandy which arrived yesterday Saturday, attached is photogragh taken today lying at the RNLI Buoy.

The Edzard Cirksena arrived Bideford this morning to load a part cargo of 1100 tons ball clay for Holland. Sailed for Teignmouth to load balance cargo.
