How to post images

Post by admin » Wed Jul 21, 2010 9:36 am

Adding images to your post is pretty simple, and there are 2 methods available.

METHOD 1 - Use the Image
The Image

METHOD 2 - Use our Attachment System
To use the Attachment System, Click on Choose File to select a file stored on your local hard drive. Add a comment to it if required, and then click Add the File which will then upload the file to our servers.

Images must be 400k or smaller in size, but can be any size/width in pixels. Once attached, the images will appear as thumbnails below your text, which when clicked will open at full size in a new window. A maximum of 3 attachments can be made to each post.

Below is an example of an attachment:

A wee update to this.

If you are linking to an external image then the syntax in your post should look like this:

Code: Select all

Can the shortened [ IMG ] [ /IMG ] tags be enabled?

They are presently turned off.

I'd prefer not to use the [IMG] tags as we can't easily get the images to resize to fit the template using it. During testing it was throwing out the layout of the pages. By defining a custom [IMAGE] tag we're able to resize the image to fit the post window.

All you need to do is select a direct link to the image and it works fine.

To avoid multiple threads with the same topic, simply click 'Add Reply' to your original posting and you will be able to add another batch of images into the message. This will help to keep the boards a bit neater. Hopefully!

Could I add to this, after uploading an image, place your cursor in the message box where you want the photo to appear, then use the 'place in line' command.
That we, we see the photo without the large attachment border ... looks much cleaner!

After you've clicked the "Post Reply" button, scroll down to near the bottom of the screen on which you will type your post and click the button towards the left hand side with "+ attachments" on it. Then click the "Add Files" button, which will take you to you file manager screen to allow you to search through your files to find and nominate the one you want to attach.
