Photograph from old Clydesite from the late Bobby Sinclair.
Think her owners were John Bruce and Co., Glasgow.
Best I can offer. Sorry.

I have found differing reports regarding Alhama . Sunk on convoy , sunk by mine , sunk by German army then refloated . It seems Alhama may have had a few different incarnations , the time I am interested in is Jan. 1956 when she was sailing in the Persian gulf , official number 184992. thanks

The photograph is of the ship you have an interest in. Remember her in Glasgow 1950s

Here are earlier ships named ALHAMA that I found
One lost WW1 26/04/1917 one lost WW2 24/10/1941

www.lrfoundation.org.uk/public_education/

this page as a ship enquiry piece on the right hand side.

Pretty sure she was a steamship therefore "ss" would apply.
Found little more:-
Built 1948 2346tons
Actual owner styled Mossgiel Steam Ship Co.Ltd.
John Bruce & Co. (Shipping) Ltd.,
75 Bothwell Street, Glasgow.

There is a site based in New Zealand which records ships world-wide. You can get 7 days free access
miramarshipindex.org.nz.

Anyone out there able to look up a 1950s Lloyds Register??? Plimsol Southampton only cover 1935/1945.
