MATCO THAMES

Post by Deepol » Tue Jun 06, 2017 10:39 am

For Mobil, this 92000dwt North Sea Shuttle Tanker was completed in 1975 by the Japanese Tsuneishi yard at Numakuma.
I can't remember offhand which field she was to serve but in February 1976 she arrived on the Clyde to lay up as the facilities for her were not ready. She initially sat at Greenock but moved up to Plantation Quay then Yorkhill.
The largest ship to lay up in Glasgow she went to Germany later in 1976 for work to be done coming back to Glasgow. Finally in April 1977 she left to take up her job which she did until December 18th 2002 when she arrived at an unnamed Chinese port to be broken up.
