Liberian-registered bulk carrier METEOR approaching the tail o’ the bank, where tugs CMS WARRIOR, ANGLEGARTH and AYTON CROSS appear to be waiting to escort her up to Glasgow.
Dimensions are 224.86m x 32 m, with a current draft of 7.8m, so qualifies to be included as a “biggie”.

It will have taken her about fourteen and a half days to travel from Glasgow to Houston, a distance of nearly 4,800 nautical miles.

There are about 30 to 40 ships in the Anchorage, mostly tankers – will continue to monitor her movements.

Appears to cover an area of nearly 200 square miles, starting about 5 miles south-east of Galveston.
Definitely a queuing area, there has, over the last 13 days, been on average 90 vessels arriving at and the same number departing from the Anchorage on a daily basis.
Numbers range between arriving 70>104, departures 72>103
Of the vessels currently there, (29 oil/chemical tankers, 12 bulk carriers, 1 tug, 1 supply vessel) WU ZHU HAI is tenth on the list according to size – the largest is an Oil Products Tanker SCF SAMOTLOR, weighing in at 158,070dwt and measuring 274m x 48m.
Just trying to imagine 180 vessels coming and going on the Clyde on a daily basis……..

Quick up-date on WU ZHU HAI – Tuesday afternoon (our time) she moved from Houston Anchorage back up to Houston Harbour, been there until now. Assume she is currently loading – will continue to monitor.

Forecasted route is via Suez Canal, distance is around 11,700 nautical miles (via the Panama Canal it would be around 12,100) – ETA Singapore is 27th July, so a 41-day journey.
Wishing her bon voyage.

Would like to follow her journey to Singapore, but appreciate it’s not Clyde-related so intend to set up a new topic in BOARD OF TRADE/Asia/Australia/Africa/Americas, for those who would like to follow her journey.
