A memory from the Clyde Shiplovers' Soc's collection of her at Dunoon in 1947 with DUCHESS OF MONTROSE.

Remember her well from my youth, but my memory can't answer this question - the first picture, the ship has one funnel but in the second she has two?

Hi Alan. During her winter refit 1956/57 she was converted from coal to oil burning and her two funnels were replaced by one.

Nice pics Gerry – like the juxtaposition of PS WAVERLEY and T.S.S. QUEEN MARY.

At the end of your post, you pose the question:- When fully restored will she keep both funnels?

Having started life with 2 funnels, changed in 1956/57 to one funnel having been converted from coal to oil burning, but at some point thereafter back to two funnels….

To keep the proportions right (not to mention the historical memories), my money is on two funnels.

Very popular during the Christmas party season. I was in London on business on 5 December 1989 and as usual when down there went on board for a drink. What a struggle that was and I came away after only one pint!
