It's that time of the season where both first and new visits are scarce.Under the category of first visit on 25th Aug.was the wee Ocean Majesty,I must admit I like the lines of her I would imagine a cruise would be full of character.Cheers Williemac

The eagle eyed among you will have spotted my deliberate mistake! The first pic is of course Europa which was in on Mon.26th,if not the first visit by this ship it's certainly a long time since her last visit.Cheers Williemac

A bit of a disaster with the fog this morning as I was standing on Greenock Esplanade at Margaret Street waiting to see the arrival of Norwegian Spirit.
Heard the fog horn at regular intervals as she made her way in, but couldn't see the ship. From the noise of her engines, it was obvious she was turning round. I eventually walked along to Campbell Street and down to the Peel Ports gates where I was able to see her still through the fog reversing onto the berth.
If any one managed some photography, it would be good to see the result!

Re: Cruise Ship Visits to Greenock - 2019 / UNSCHEDULED CALL / NORWEGIAN SPIRIT - 7 OCTOBER 2019

Post by clydesider » Thu Oct 03, 2019 9:50 pm

Just when you thought the season had almost finished!

The NCL vessel is currently on a 14 day round trip from Southampton to Norway, Iceland and Ireland.
She is due in Reykjavik on 5 and 6 October and was then to head for Belfast to arrive on 8 October.

Perhaps for the comfort of her passengers, she appears to be restricting her Reykjavik stay to one day and will travel to GOT on 6 October for an approximate 8.00am arrival on 7 October.

She sails at 6.00pm for Belfast.

This is her fourth call of the season to GOT

It now looks as if Norwegian Spirit is not making her two Iceland calls at all. Marine Traffic is showing her as on passage from Alesund to GOT.

Yes, the captain made the decision to abort the call because of the wind.

Every cloud has a silver lining, however, and those of us on Greenock esplanade were lucky enough to watch the French Navy’s Mistral class amphibious assault ship FS Tonnerre/L9014 being assisted off the berth at GOT by Ayton Cross and Switzer Milford, reversing and turning before heading outbound.

Norwegian Spirit took a long way to Belfast. After leaving Greenock she headed south past the Isle of Man then when she was about level with Blackpool she about turned and headed back north to Belfast where she docked this morning.
