Named after the 1906 Derby winner the A3 sits on the turntable at St Margarets shed in Edinburgh in the last days of steam going by the yellow stripe on the cab signifying a ban south of Crewe because of overhead line clearances.
In the midst of the 1962-63 winter she hauled me from Edinburgh to Glasgow deputising for a diesel.
