The railway poster

Post by Deepol » Tue Apr 18, 2017 12:53 pm

The poster in the pre digital age was the means for the railway companies to advertise their services, achievements and also places served. There were some wonderful images produced some by well known artists. These are some from the collection, from cards and auction catalogues.
Think this must be one of the most famous of all railway posters, this for the Southern Railway.
The classic poster for the entry into service of Caledonian Princess in 1961.
This one for the London Midland electrification graced my wall till it fell apart! Cost me 7 shillings (35p)
