A bit of manipulation

Post by Deepol » Wed Dec 07, 2011 1:29 pm

47484 ISAMBARD KINGDOM BRUNEL at Glasgow Queen Street in 1985 waiting to go on the front of the 1325 to Aberdeen deputising for a 47/7. She was a regular visitor to Scotland and had ended up at Eastfield so the opportunity was taken to get her on to that train for photographic purposes..........
Another shot of the nameplate and GW coat of arms this time at Exhibition Centre in 1988 when being again in Scotland the opportunity was taken to use her on a special!
As D1662 she entered service at Landore in 1965 and was named in 1965. Following renumbering and to commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the GWR she was fitted with GW style nameplates and painted Brunswick green in 1985.
Withdrawn from service in 2000 she languished in the yard of Springburn Works for quite a few years before being bought for private preservation.
