Luxury travel

Post by Deepol » Wed Oct 12, 2011 12:57 pm

I can't remember what MERCO was an acronym for now, but they ran luxury land cruises in the late 1990s formed by ex- Manchester Pullman stock. This is at Dalmuir in September 1994 returning from Fort William. I think this spawned the Statesman.

This is it at Cardross in November 1988. Former MetCam Pullman coaches are now used on the train.
Also a pic taken in 1985 at Dalmuir on the Press Run.

Bellmond Royal Scotsman passing through Dumbarton Central at 4pm on 19th May en route to an overnight at Spean Bridge. 66745 bringing up the rear. Note the observation balcony on the leading coach behind the loco which will be the rear coach on the return. The entire train set was turned out immaculately. I think that this is the first trip of 2017. The cost of this four night trip is upwards of a mere £3900.
