A view of the main armament. They were difficult to tell apart so not sure if this is Nelson or Rodney

No doubt here with NE on her turret
Photos from my collection of the two distinctively profiled battleships commissioned in June and November 1927 respectively. NELSON was built on Tyneside by Armstrong Whitworth and RODNEY on Merseyside by Cammell Laird. They both had 16" main armament in 3 triple turrets ahead of their accommodation placed aft being the only Royal Navy battleships to have this caliber of gun.
Both had distinguished service during the Second World War RODNEY gaining fame for her part in the BISMARCK chase.
As with all of their type obsolescence came after the end of WW2 and they both went to Inverkeithing for breaking up RODNEY arriving on 26th March 1948 and NELSON on 15th March 1949.

An early shot of Rodney. Both ships' appearance altered through refits.
HMS RODNEY seems to have been identified more in photos than her sister for some unknown reason.

SupermarineWalrus-HMS_Rodney.jpg
Rodney could be identified from Nelson at one time as she had her Walrus aircraft launcher on X turret.

Courtesy Anton and Sergio Grimaldi a shot of HMS RODNEY enjoying a break from everyday routine. There's no details of where or when unfortunately.
