USS CHARLES F ADAMS

Post by Deepol » Thu Mar 30, 2017 3:58 pm

Name ship of a class of destroyers totalling 29 for the US, German and Australian Navies. CFA was built at the Bath Iron Works and was commissioned in 1960 having a 30 year career, decommissioning in 1990. Remarkably she is being held in Donation Status as a previous attempt to preserve her in Canada fell through. Hopefully she may go on display at Jacksonville.
This was taken on a weekend visit to Glasgow in June 1972.

Yes I was one of the many who went on board her at KGV on 17/06/72. These were the days!
