Bumps and projections

I've lost the details of this carrier but I'm sure it's a Royal Navy one and shows clearly the bits and pieces that stick out.

it was because of those sponsons that they built the Director class of paddle tugs in the late 1950's as the low profile and paddle boxes kept them clear of obstructions

In the late 90's Claymore acted as tender to one of the Nimitz class of aircraft carriers in Ireland. These "bumps and projections" were the constant worry for the Master as he told me afterwards.

Just sticking out from behind the carrier is a boat which could possibly be one of these "Director" tugs.
