Flying her callsign on her port yard, but I wonder why she has a solitary 'G' flag on her starboard yard?

Well according to my trusty 'Brown's Signalling', How to Learn The International Code of Signals wherein all methods of Signalling are Explained, the nice man wants a pilot.

However my copy was published in 1942 and cost the grand sum of Four Shillings..........so it might have changed.
