Parkhead Forge

Post by Deepol » Wed Jun 22, 2016 11:55 am

An aerial view of Beardmore's Parkhead Forge. The main part on the right foreground is now the main Shopping Centre whilst on the other side of the dividing road, Duke Street is now the Forge Market. I think Duke Street can still lay claim to be Britain's longest street.
The railway can be seen in the immediate foreground with the lattice bridge which conveyed the Goods Loops and entrance to Parkhead Shed with the main suburban lines to Airdrie and Helensburgh etc. running to the fore.

Sorry Alasdair I don't have a date but it could be 1950s or even pre-War. The shed at Parkhead is still there with a lot of railway infrastructure intact which would have steadily disappeared after the 1960s.
