The Maid was slipped today at Balloch with a good crowd in attendance, unfortunately it was unsuccessful as there was a problem with the carrier cradle and she rolled back down the slipway into the water. She is now back at her original berth.

Would quite agree David, especially today when you see the way some items are handled in transit. If it has 'Fragile handle with care' label on it they would probably give it a kick!
Helensburgh Pier has been closed to marine traffic following an inspection by engineering consultants, and a Notice to Mariners has been issued temporarily closing the pier. Surprisingly the pier has not been included in Argyll & Bute Council's £18.6m project to redevelop the Helensburgh waterfront....
Helensburgh Pier is also under review at the moment whither it is deemed safe for future visits by the Waverley due to the pier's present condition, what with that and the Maid being turned down by the HLF it's not looking too bright at the moment.
Victim of storm Ali on Wednesday 19th. Sept. the Nicholson28 yacht SNOW STAR which broke her moorings and ended up on the rocks beside Kilcreggan Pier. Holed on her Stbd. side she is awaiting removal.

Cruise ship NAUTICA departed G.O.T. berth this morning and at present at anchor riding out storm Ali. Tugs Anglegarth and Svitzer Milford stood down with tug Ayton Cross standing by.
Couple of rough shots from Weymouth webcam at 0900hrs this morning of Waverley departing stern first on her sail to Swanage, Yarmouth and sail round the I.O.W. Weather seems to be doing well and should be getting good crowds. Tomorrow Southampton.
Porthcawl looks a rather unusual harbour to be starting and ending a sailing, I can't see any area where she can come alongside unless she anchors off, could be wrong of course, why not start and end in Swansea city in the first place.
