Re: SS Dorrien Rose and Fullerton of Paisley

Sorry, I was sure I replied to you a few days ago but it obviously didn't go through.
Could you give me his name, date and place of birth please and I will point you to where his records should be?

Regards
Hugh

Re: SS Dorrien Rose and Fullerton of Paisley

Sorry, I can't help re the drawings but I can advise on where to research of your father's service records if you need that detail. I did some research on this ship a while back, mainly about her Dunkirk service. Quite a famous ship when you consider all of her crew received decorations for Dunkirk....

Re: AMC HMS ESPERANCE BAY

Here is the survivor's report from the master of CLYTONEUS. I presume it must have been the second mate's boat that was picked up by HMS ESPERANCE BAY and the others by HMS WILD SWAN.

Re: 1901 Crewlist for SV SINDIA (built 1888)

Hello Angus, There are no surviving crew agreements for the ship held at the UK National Archives in Kew. There are crew agreements held at the Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada but only for the years 1890 and 1892. It may be worth emailing the address below in case the ship has not had a ...

Re: Question - identify the Port

Dock St is in London, Angus.
If you check his discharge on CAMEO 2.9.47 the abbreviation is clearer at least to me - DRST is meaningless in the context of his discharge port.

Re: Question - identify the Port

Angus,

The D.R.S.T is a badly written DK.ST = Dock Street.

Re: Convoy PQ 17 and BBC 2 tonight

Thanks for that Colin.
'RATHLIN' served with distinction throughout the war and her crew had a fair share of honours. If it would be of interest to members, I can post the awards to members of the crew for the war years?

Re: Convoy PQ 17 and BBC 2 tonight

The first convoy to leave Russia after PQ-17 was QP-14, this included some of the survivors and ships from the ill-fated PQ-17. Unfortunately, three of the PQ-17 ships that made it to port: BELLINGHAM (US), SILVER SWORD(US) and the British tanker GRAY RANGER. were sunk in this return convoy. Regards...
